You can answer that you can answer yourself. Think about something that you did as a kid that has become a family story. Now think about how you tell the story. Then think about how your mom, dad, brother, or sister tells your story. How is your story different from theirs? That’s the difference between a first person narrator (you) and a third person narrator (you family members).

First of, in a literature, you should be consistent in the point of view you’ve started with.

If you jump from one point of view to another, the reader will be confused.

Example:

(Third person) She ran quickly towards home. Her dog quickly welcomed her with barks.

(First person) I ran quickly towards home. My dog quickly welcomed me with barks.

(Inconsistent point of view) She ran quickly towards home. My dog welcomed me with barks.

See the confusion in the third example? That’s it. The readers or the audience will get confused.
