What exactly do you mean by a German perspective? A postwar perspective, one of the resistance or a Nazi perspective?

A real Nazi perspective would be the speech given by Heinrich Himmler to his SS men on October 4, 1943. That is the perspective of mass murderers who were proud on what they had done.

The German resistance group White Rose wrote in a leaflet in 1942 that 300,000 Jews in Poland had been “murdered in a bestial manner. . . . Here we see the most terrible crime committed against the dignity of man, a crime that has no counterpart in human history”. The number of 300,000 was far lower than the reality, but I suppose they didn’t know better at that time.

Here is an interesting link about how they dealt with the Holocaust in the GDR:

I add some links to contemporary comments on the Holocaust by German officials that I found on the website of the German Foreign Office:

There is no such thing as a German perspective, though the German Government does officially condemn the actions retro-actively, for what little that is worth.

Hitler’s view is best summed up in his own work “Mein Kampf”.

Because of the gruesome nature of the atrocities and moreover, the condemnation by the victors of the war. View German Vets will ever talk about that time. Many will never admit to their grandchildren, so little documentation exists.

There are some interviews.

The Discovery Channel featured Hitler’s Secretary and one of his Bunker Guards. But most Concentration Camp soldiers keep mum.

Well, I know of a movie called “Downfall.” That is definitely from a German perspective of the last days of Hitler’s life and the fall of Berlin. It’s in German with English subtitles. It’s disturbing, but I recommend it.
