when do you use a comma when you are using two adjectives?
Favorite Answer
Does the sentence make sense if the adjectives are written with and between them?
If you answer yes to either question, then you must use a comma to separate the adjectives. Never put a final comma after the 2nd adjective and the noun the adjective describes.
Good luck!
Example: ‘The day was long, monotonous, hot, polluted and boring.’ That sentence needs to be broken in two. ‘The day was long and monotonous. It was polluted, hot and boring.’
Try to have only two adjectives you may need a comma between in a sentence. Also remember not to put a comma before the word ‘and;’ it’s unnecessary.
However in reading your question again, it seems you have only two adjectives at a time in mind. In that case I would just hook them up with the word ‘and’ without any commas!
Good luck!
