In other words, anyone could do a report on “effects of the media on teens” and it could be OK. But if you personally love history, then a better spin on it might be a presentation on how the influence of media helped to homogenize the teen experience versus the more regional nature of it when we didn’t have the Internet (or television or radio depending on how far back you go) to provide a more common teen “language”.

Reader’s Digest version: Do a report on something you’ll bring PASSION to, since this is presumably an oral presentation in front of the class.
