What is the x-intercept of y=5x+7?

I can’t remember which number that would be in the line. If you could provide the source, that’d be great, as well.

Hi.. Well, where does the line

5x+7 intercepts with the “x-axis”?

Intercepting with the x-axis means that at that point, the value of “y” is cero. So just do the math: 0 = 5x+7

-7 = 5x

-7/5 = x

So, at x = -7/5 = -1.4 the value of y is cero.

y=5x+7 intercepts the x-axis at that point.

At which point (x,y) that intersection happens? ..

At the point: ( -1.4, 0 )

Try ploting a graph, you’ll understand it better.

Hope this helps!.. πŸ™‚

The x-intercept is when y=0 (where the line crosses the x-axis on the graph)

so if you substitute 0 for y and solve the equation, you will get the x-intercept

y=5x+7

0=5x+7

-7=5x

-7/5=x

the intercept is the point on the x axis by which the line crosses so .. you know y = 0 you set = to 0 then solve for x ie. 0 = 5x+7

-7=5x x= -7/5 y intercept would be (0,-7/5)

X intercept menas Y = 0. So 0 = 5X +7, X = -7/5

The X intercept is the point where Y is equal to 0.

Therefore, set Y equal to 0 and solve the equation which in this case is -7/5 or -1.4 .

just set y=0 and solve for x. when the line crosses the x-axis y is zero.

0=5x+7

-7=5x

x=-7/5

if you are solving for X-intercept,,,it means y=0

so the equation would be 0=5X+7,X=-7/5

so.. -7/5 will be the correct answer

y=5x+7

solve for x

y-7=5x+7-7 (subtracting 7 from both sides)

y-7=5x/5 (divide by 5 to both sides)

y-7/5=x

so when you graph it you go down 7 and over 5…i think that’s the right way to graph it…

I hope I helped…

y=mx+b

m is the slope, and

b is the intercept

y=5x+7

y=mx+b

m=5

b=7

7 is the intercept.

another way to find the intercept is to set x=0

y=5x+7

y=5(0)+7

y=7

the value of y at x=0 is the intercept

~Set y=0

~Subtract 7 from both sides

0=5x+7

-7 -7

_________

-7=5x

~Divide both sides by 5

-7(/5) = 5x(/5)

Answer:

x= -7/5
