mother has two roots depending on which way you look at it. Either old english from modor or Greek from meter.

Matriarch is latin. ( Do not confuse with Patriarch, which has a Greek root)

Century is latin.

the backside of somewhat some English is unquestionably the Germanic (Anglo-Saxon) ingredient, which has been overlaid by way of way of Latin, previous French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Arabic (alcohol and somewhat some others). As with lots languages this is a blend. purely before Greek and Latin, lots language pupils do no longer ignore that the commencing up of lots ecu languages have been given right here from India interior the form of Sanskrit.

It’s root, not route.

mother – L, G

Matriarch – AS

Century – L
