What is keyboard class? Is it a musical keyboard, or is it the computer keyboard?

How does the current generation of students learn to use the computer keyboard? Do you begin by “hunting and pecking”? Does this mean you have spent a lifetime of awkward typing before really learning how to type? In my day, before computers, no one learned how to type before, say, the eighth grade. I’d love to take answers from you who have grown up in front of a computer.

In junior high and high school, “Keyboarding” class is most definitely a course that teaches kids to type quickly on a computer keyboard.

In most cases, however, kids in today’s generation have learned to type without the help of teachers or a typing tutor. They have learned simply by chatting in chat rooms online and commenting on each other’s MySpace profiles.

I’m 21 years old, but I learned to type when I was just 12. I now type 70+ WPM. How did I learn? By spending an hour each day in a tween chat room online talking to other kids about video games and N’Sync …

Ask in case your song device retailer has demonstration weeks in which special devices perhaps sampled. Some song faculties additionally do that. If you could have a song division at your possess university, the instructor there would inspire you to check out. As you’re accustomed to piano, you would love to construct on that. A harp is nearly a piano on its part. Different, of path, however you are going to already realise the best way the strings are organized. A glockenspiel or xylophone has the notes within the identical order as a piano. A piano accordion has one part with acquainted notes for the melody line, and you would must be trained which buttons at the different part constitute which different notes for the accompaniment. If you might care to do anything wholly special, prefer probably a wind or brass device. Even a recorder or tin whistle if performed good can sound robust, and it’s an high priced device to start with. From there you would transfer directly to flute, oboe or clarinet. I would not spend plenty of cash on a brand new device until I suggestion I might keep it up. That’s the skills of making an attempt it out first.

I remember taking typing classes in high school – it was foreign to most of us because we typically didn’t have typewriters at home, so learning the correct way to type was just one of those things you had to do if you wanted to get a job one day!

You’re right, though…with kids learning to type on a computer keyboard from the time they are able to crawl up to the desk, it’s got to be a unique challenge for teachers. However, I taught computer classes at a career college, and we had a program that taught them proper finger placement and keystroke repetition, eventually building up speed and reducing errors. I was surprised at how many “older” adults didn’t know how to type without looking down at the keyboard.

No matter what, though, it’s got to be easier to learn on a computer keyboard than it was on the old IBM Selectric II!!

I’m not really sure what keyboard class is- personally I’ve never heard of it. I can touch-type (typing without looking) but only because when i was about 10, i was really int rested in computers so my parents put me on a touch-typing course. There are load of touch-typing courses on the Internet so I’m sure you’ll find something. Type touch- typing in google or something.
