What is a thesis statement?
Favorite Answer
Why – Why Should Your Essay Contain A Thesis Statement?
* to test your ideas by distilling them into a sentence or two
* to better organize and develop your argument
* to provide your reader with a “guide” to your argument
In general, your thesis statement will accomplish these goals if you think of the thesis as the answer to the question your paper explores.
Here is an introduction paragraph. The LAST sentence is the thesis.
“The most important aspect of a person is their selflessness and kindness towards others. According to Atticus Finch, a character in To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view” (30). Maturity and sensitivity arrive when a person can put themself in someone else’s shoes.”
