A thesis statement is a sentence that outlines what the rest of your essay is going to be about. you will give your three main topics in a thesis statement, which you will expand on in the paragraphs of the essay.
So you would say something alot the lines of
“While the civil war was a result of decades worth of little arguments between the north and the south, the three main causes are ” and then write in your causes. Put them in the thesis in the order you are going to write them in.
So, if your first point is slavery, then write slavery first in the thesis statement, and then make that your very next point. If your 2nd point is economic differences between the north and the south, then write that second, and make that your second paragraph.
