This is easy!

A prime number is like 7, you can’t multiply 2 whole numbers to get 7, right? EXCEPT, 1 and 7. So, the two factors are 1 and 7, and that’s it. Another example is 5. It’s only factors are 1 and 5. No other 2 numbers can multiply to 5.

Composite numbers are different. You can multiply something other than 1 and the number to get that number. For example, 12. Some factors are 1 and 12. But more factors could be 3 and 4. OR 6 and 2. Since there are lots of factors equaling 12, it’s composite.

I hope I helped! Tell me if I did. BTW, you can always google “a chart of prime numbers” to see all the primes.

–stamps a ‘STUPID’ sticker on your head— sorry about that, but girl, this is second grade math. unless you are in elementary school, please keep the sticker on your head.

composite numbers are numbers that other numbers can divide evenly into.

8 is composite because 1, 2, 4, and 8 go into it. it has four factors, two of which are not 1 or itself.

2 is not composite because it only has two factors; 1 and itself.

get it?
