I had a discussion on this very same question in my college class last term. Basic questions you need to figure out first, do you want to consider the revolutionary war to just be the fighting or do you want to include all of the little boycotts through the writing of our current constitution?

The way my class decided was Conservative translated into meaning the Americans wanted to keep things the same, they just wanted to be the ones in charge of it and not England. Radical meant they wanted to both change the system and who ruled it.

Depending on what you count as the revolutionary war depends on if you think it was both or only one of the options.
