What does it mean to say that writing is often a zigzag journey rather than a straight-line journey?

writing is a process that relies on a person’s creativity and imagination.. most of the times, when u start writing, u dont know what u will end up with, whether ur writing a novel, short story, or a simple essay… everything clarifies as u write. that is why writing is more of a zigzag journey (not stable and not defined) than a straigh line (defined beforehand).
