1. Knowledge of the latest news and issues.

2. General knowledge.

3. Open mind- given a topic eg “Adam and Eve or Adam and Steve”, you are forced to put aside your religious convictions and principles and have to research on both sides.

4. The ability to argue without losing your temper, supported by facts and a great vocab, yay!

5. The ability to meet debaters from around the world (or at least from other schools), exposed to other debating styles (falsify information, manner of debating, manipulating adjudicators).

6. One great way to vent your anger.

My advice: Take up debating. It rocks.

Not knowing how to debate means you will be the sucker in the room if your opponent does know how…
