What are some very good and persuasive reasons to not smoke?

1) Smoking is bad for you ==> cancer (throat, mouth, lung, etc.), shortened life span, increases potential for other diseases.
2) Decreases your physical performance ==> difficulty breathing, walking, sexual performance.
3) Its disgusting ==> Heavy smokers get the tobacco yellow stains on their fingers, brown teeth, smoke will make your home’s walls and ceilings brown, your clothes will stink.
One reason and the only reason that really stands out (at least to me) is the fact that it increases the chance of an individual having lung cancer.
My mom had it and she didn’t even smoke nor was she around anybody that smoked.
So why voluntarily increase your chance of having that disease?
Lung cancer causes excruciating pain for the individual and it is one of the most difficult illnesses to treat.
2) Smoking causes lung disease in 8 out of 10 people. Most people diagnosed with lung disease die within 5 years.
3) Cigarettes contain nicotine, and in people with health problems, nicotine can speed up your heart rate.
4) Smoking increases your chances of developing cancer, heart disease, bronchitus and emphaseza.
5) Home fires started by cigarette smoke is estimated to kill over 25,000 people every year.
6)Over 400,000 americans die every year from a smoking related disease. Thats more than aids, alcohol, car accidents, suicide, fires, drugs, and murders COMBINED. And thats just in the United States.

3.) Tobacco contains a poison called nicotine. An injection of one drop of nicotine in its purest form (70 mg) will kill an average-sized man. Cigarettes contain a very small amount of nicotine (between .1 and 2.2 mg). This amount will not kill you, but will make your heart beat faster and can make your hands shake.

8.) Smoking during pregnancy can harm the developing baby, it can cause conditions such as low birth weight and premature birth. As the child grows older it may develop problems such as the ability to process what they are hearing and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder).
9.) Over 400,000 Americans die each year from smoking-related diseases. That’s more than from AIDS, alcohol, car accidents, fires, illegal drugs, murders and suicides combined.
10.) A very strong relationship exists between smoking and academic performance. Of all high school seniors with an A average in their senior year, only 7% were currently daily smokers; of those with a D average, 46% were daily smokers.
