That’s a hard question. When I did my speech a couple years back. I didn’t know what to write about, so I did why i hate writing speeches. It got laughs and it was easy to do. Try to stay away from what most people are going to do, for example, 1/4 of the class did the 9/11 “conspiracy”. Some guy did his as a narrative and talked about his first days as a Niner in the school. Some guy did stereotype (he was from sri lanka and the whole being called paki to whoever is west asian etc.) It’s a hard option but you’ll think of something, something that gets people’s attention. Maybe…superstition (everyone can relate)..I don’t know….just throwing it out there.

I’m in 8th grade and am the captain of Debate Club. Personally, you should go with a topic that you feel comfortable with and know something about already. Also, choose a topic that students can relate to. Be sure to choose a topic that not many people know about or think about. Of your topics, I prefer: Global Warming (but change it up) How Electronics Dominate our World and our Minds*

Consider where you’re coming from, and look through controversial issues in that place. But it also has to be something you’re comfortable with. I mean, you can just talk about shampoo, but if it’s something you’re really familiar with and know a lot about, do it. You’ll just have to make it work, in the end.

A timely topic would be ‘How to rid America of illegal immigrants’ or ‘Why illegal immigrants must be removed from America’.
