after you’ve udnerlined it once, do you have to underline it each time you use the title?

Yes. Otherwise your reader (probably a teacher) will have no idea what you mean if you have Wuthering Heights in one place and have it plain somewhere else.

Following the rules for documentation under MLA and Indicating the title of cited works by all the rules of the MLA can drive one to screaming fits.
It is correct to underline the title each time according the MLA sixth edition (section 3.6.2) which I pulled out of the book shelf and blew the dust off of just for you 🙂
