Favorite Answer

1. May 14, 1607, founding of Jamestown in Virginia

August 15, 1945, Japanese surrender, ending WW II

Da Gama never made a voyage to Persia or to China or to Constantinople. He did land in east Africa and southern India. None of the three answers is quite right, but since the question postulates the trade route to the East Indies, the best answer to the question is China.

I believe this is the best, although incorrect, answer

Well the Declaration of Independence was 1776. 169 years before that is 1607, the Jamestown settlement, the first English colony in the New World. 169 years afterwards is 1945, the end of WWII. America’s emergence as a superpower, maybe?

Part 2. I’m not sure about this. Constantinople was sort of centrally located in Europe so it’s not that. I would guess it was China, but I could be wrong.
