LazyTown is an excellent show which highlights the benefits of exercise and proper nutrition, blending live action and puppetry together in a colorful and imaginative format.

From Wikipedia:

“The main character is Stephanie (Julianna Rose Mauriello), who arrives in town and urges her new friends Ziggy, Trixie, Stingy, and Pixel to go outside and be active, instead of staying inside and playing video games all day. Her uncle, the bumbling Mayor Milford Meanswell, enlists the help of Sportacus 10 (Magnús Scheving), a self-described “slightly-above-average hero”. It is Sportacus’ job to inspire the kids to play outside, and to help solve low-key emergencies that occur from time to time. However, all this does not sit well with Robbie Rotten (Stefán Karl Stefánsson), a lazy man who lives in an underground lair hidden just on the edge of town. Many of the episodes involve Robbie Rotten dressing up in a disguise and trying to ruin the kids’ fun and/or make Sportacus leave town forever.”

I don’t know of any now, as I do not watch much TV anymore, but back in the 80’s there was a show which I believe was called “You and Me, Babe” (I think, or something like that) which featured mothers (and occasionally fathers) exercising with their children. The activity was physically developmental for both parents and children, and also was probably quite effective in establishing an emotional bond between the pairs and among the group. There were about a dozen pairs, and a host, Sonny Melendez. SM was always there, emceeing, and various teams would be there from day to day.

this may sound crazy or even stupid to you but i have kids and sometimes watch their tv with them! anywayz, over the last few years, seseme street has been motivating kids to excercise and eat healthy foods. in fact just last week, big bird and snuffy went on a hike. and sometimes elmo’s world talks about excercise and making good food choices. cookie monster still eats cookies but he has also added fruits and vegatables to his choices. and when they talk about the number and letter of the day, it often shows children outside playing and having fun which is also great excercise! hope this helps….

“lazytown” is good and for the younger kids “boogie Beebies” gets them up dancing.
