Each cube is 1 liter = 1000cc
so each side of the cube is 10 cm, 10x10x10 = 1000

Each liter is 1000ml. A milliliter of water at 4C occupies a volume of 1 cubic centimeter, so a liter occupies 1000 cubic centimeters. The cube root of 1000 is 10, so each side of the cube must be 10 cm – but that’s the inside measurement. The (exterior) outside measurement will be slightly larger, depending on the thickness of the walls of the cube. For example, if they were 3mm (0.3cm) thick, the exterior side length would be 10+0.3+0.3 = 10.6cm.
