I can’t remember specific details, but I can definately help you with number 2.

Both Pearl and the letter are visual reminders of Hester’s sin. The letter, being bright red, stands out in the community and is almost impossible to notice. Pearl, also, is full of mischief and hard to notice. Hester notices how Pearl behaves inappropriately (at least, for a Puritan), and it’s a reminder of how Hester was inappropriate. Basically, Hester wonders if Pearl behaves like this because she was born of sin, or because she’s been raised by a sinful mother.

2. Both Pearl and the scarlet letter are outward signs that Hester has done something “wrong”. Her husband isn’t there, so Pearl is evidence that Hester had sex with a man that wasn’t her husband. The scarlet letter is what the judge made her wear to show that she had shamed herself.

Hester starts out being a lovely brunette, but by the end she’s a bleach blond with a bad gum chewing habit. Rev Dimmesdale starts out as a bachelor race buggy driver, but finds the lord and starts fathering illegitimate children. Seriously, you ought to do this on your own. Here’s a good website, though, that can really help you.

correct me if i’m wrong the last time i read this book was years ago but i do think i remember that the “stranger” is Hester’s husband and he essentially learns from the townsman that Hester was unfaithful. (the townsman did not know that it was her husband)
