the perimeter of the yard is 130ft. if length is 10 less than 2 timesthe width. what are the dimmensions?

130=2x + 2(2x-10)

130=6x-20

150=6x

x=25 where x is the width…

25×40

Make the equation

2w-10 = length

w = width

perimeter = 2(length) + 2(width)

Express it with one variable

130 = 2(2w-10)+2w

130 = 4w-20 + 2w ;clear the parenthesis

150 = 6w ;combine like terms

25 = w; divide both sides by 6

Length is 2w-10 or 40

Width = 25, length = 40
