Stuck at maths homework. plz help!!!?
A farmer has 260 metres of clear plastic fencing. He uses all the fencing to create a retangular holding pen.
(a) Taking x as the length of the pen, write down an expression for the width of the pen in terms of x .
(b) Given that the area of the pen is 4000 square metres, form and equation and solve it to find x , the length of the pen.

2x + 2y = 260
x * y = 4000
Just solve the first one for y and substitute your answer into the second equation.
2y = 260-2x
y = 130-x
x*(130-x) = 4000
130x-x^2 = 4000
x^2-130x+4000 = 0

a. there are 4 sides to a rectangle and they have to equal to 260; therefore, 4x=260. now solve for x
b. area is x^2, that’s x squared. so the formula is 4000=x^2. i’m sure you can do the rest
