4

Favorite Answer
Anyhow. what are your perfect squares? 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36
Where does 18 fall? Between 16 and 25. 4 is the square root of 16, and 5 is the square root of 25. So, the square root of 18 would be greater than 4 and less than 5.
Another way to find this answer, as there isn’t an exact number multiplied by itself togive u 18 (it will be a decimal)….u can work it out by looking at the answer of 4 that u have….so….. 4 x 4 = 16 (this number is smaller than 18)
so…the square root of 16 is 4 (4 multiplied by itself will give the answer 16) seeing as though 4 squared is smaller than 18, lets try the next number, 5. 5×5=25 now this is much bigger than 18, therefore the answer to the sqaure root of 18 lies between 4 and 5.
therefore, by looking at what ive wrote, the square root of 18 will be greater than 4.
it cant be less than 4 as any number below 4 is going to be smaller than 16.
it cant be equal to 4 as 4×4=16 not 18
so therefore it must be greater than 4
i hope this helps and hasnt confused u too much
if that’s the question, think of it this way:
the square root of 16 is 4, and the square root of 25 is 5. since 18 is between 16 and 25, the square root of 18 is between 4 and 5. it’s greater than 4.
18² means 18 times 18.
bc. 18 squared is 4.24
so
18 squared > 4
