Your manager at work has advised you that you and two of your coworkers will be visiting a branch of your company in another country. Select a country that you would like to learn more about. Then, conduct an Internet or library search regarding the nonverbal and verbal communication styles in this country.
Write a memo to the manager in the scenario summarizing your findings and explaining how you would use the information to enhance communication during your visit to this country.

For instance, Japanese people have a smaller ‘personal space’ than Americans, for obvious reasons. They are used to being closer together. When Japanese and Americans get together, the Americans see the Japanese as too pushy and intimate, and the Japanese see the Americans as aloof and standoffish.
This is just a generalization, obviously, but hopefully it will give you an idea of the kind of things you should be looking for.
The idea is that you identify some behavioral differences, and then try to incorporate them into your own behavior so you will be more accepted and they will more readily communicate effectively with you.
