Somebody…D= Geometry help?

An airplane flies from Stanton to Mercury in a straight flight path. Mercury is 300 miles east and 400 miles south of Stanton. How many miles is the flight?

You have a right triangle with legs of 300 miles and 400 miles. The plane will, presumably, follow the hypotenuse. Time for the Pythagorean Theorem.

To od this you need the pathgrium theorem. A squared + B squared = C squared.

Square 400 and 300

160,000+ 90,000=C^2

250,000=C^2

C=500. There fore if is 500 feet from Mercury to Stanton

Use the pythagorian theorm. Sorry about my spelling =).

a^2 + b^2 = c^2

so use put the numbers in for a and b. square them. Then add them and find the square root of it. That way, it will be equal to x. And there you go.
