solving one step equations?
I need to know how to do that problem, I know the answer is -6, but I need to know how to get the answer by showing my work. Help please.

4-2-x= -10
so what you’re going to do first is flip it to 4+-2+-x= 10 (to make it easier. you dont have to though………). then you are going to get rid of the 4 by subtracting 4. because the opposite of addition is subtraction. and wat is done on the left HAS to be done on the right. so you subtract 4 from the 10 also.
example:
4+-2+-x=-10
-4 -4
now youre left with:
2+-x=-14
now you need to get rid of the 2 so the x can be alone. one again you subtract because subtraction is the opposite of addition, then you subtract from the the 6 because what u do on the left has to be done on the right.
Example
2+-x=-14
-2 -2
now your left with::
-x=-16
since its a -x, you have to make the 16 a positive (because – x – = positive) though so the answer is:::
x= 16
and you should know how to check it 😉
So you have 4-x=10. To get the x by itself, first, you need to subtract four from both sides. Anything you do to one side, you need to do to both, so…
4-x-4 = 10-4
-x = 6
Last, since you have a -x instead of x, you need to switch the signs of everything. Thus, you get
-x = 6
x = -6
Viola.
now, take the known numbers ( like the numbers 6,2,10) to one side and keep the unknown( which is x here) in other side
suppose u keep x in left hand side(LHS) n move other numbers
it is a rule that when u move a numbr in other side then the sign infront of it changes
-x=10-6+2 , u see earlier in eqn -(i) there ws ‘+’ sign infront of 6 but nw we put ‘-‘
-x=6
u can write it as
x= -6
4 – x = 10
– x= 6
x = -6
