first of all, you want to get rid of the 4 that is left of the equal sign, so you add it to both sides. so then you add 4 to 41 and you get 45. then you divided the 5 that is left of the equal sign from both sides. so that x=9.

You need to get the X by itself; therefore, add 4 to both side of the equal sign. This will remove the negative 4 from the left side of the equal sign.

4+(-)4=0 and 4+41 = 45

Now you have to remove the 5, by dividing both side by 5

5x = 45

5/5=1 and 45/5=9

This gives you the answer 1x or x = 9

hi Nobbzy, 5x – 3y = 40-one ————(a million) and (7?2)x + (4?2)y=80 two———-(2) Dividing by way of out by ability of ?2 we get, 7x +4y = 40-one?2———–(3) (3) x 3 ====> 21 x + 12 y = 123?2 ———–(4) (a million)x4 ====> 20 x – 12 y = 164————(5) (4)+(5)===> 41x = 164+123?2 So x = 4 + 3?2 Plugging in (3) and fixing we get for y as y = -7+5?2 subsequently answer in surds.
