Science Lab Report about metals?

Hello so here is the question:

This is the purpose of the lab: To determine the density and volume of irregular shaped metal samples as well as their scientific name.

Now my question is this. How can i formulate a hypothesis around this subject. For me it seems that it is kind of a blurry subject. What i was thinking at first was something about, that there is a constant relationship between the mass and volume of a given sample. I am really stuck.

I would look at the melting point of the metals. The higher the melting point, the higher the density. Volume can be determined by weight.

eg. Aluminum, copper and Silver all have a low melting point and weigh much less for a same peice of metal if it was made of manganese, chromium, or nickel which have higher melting points.
