My grammer is also very poor…and thsi is my grade 12 year..I have very academic courses so its sooo hard to improve my english…I really badly suck at writing essays and when answering questionssss to highly analytical stories. I suck! I have no idea what to do…it really worries me…my grammer, essay’s , creative writing and everything just sucks. I really do read , but yet, I still am not able to succeed. I really don’t knwo what

Is English your mother tongue? If not I’d say you are doing pretty well although obviously you want some extra help. Is it possible for you to have some after school extra tuition? For creative writing get yourself a Thesaurus, this is a useful tool for alternative words – you will find a thesaurus in Microsoft Word under Tools. When writing a long essay write out a list of the main points and when you wonder off the topic go back to your sheet of main points so you stay on track. Slow down, reread your work, look up words in the dictionary and use the spell check on the computer either here or in Word and slowly build your spelling capabilities. Go to your teacher and ask for some extra help, a willing student must surely be rewarded for their efforts. (I am not a teacher). Good luck with your studies and have faith in yourself.

PS Your spelling is not bad you spelt “weird” okay but grammer is grammar.

Don’t fret too much. It something that can be improved. Writing is a skill that either comes naturally or it doesn’t. Unfortunately I can’t empathize with you because my writing tends to come naturally. However, I can understand your concern. Writing essays to me is simpler than people make it out to be. Something my english teacher taught us was the 5 paragraph essay rule. Basically the 1st paragraph introduces what you will cover, but not by an announcement, such as “This essay will discuss the effects of global warming”. The reason for this is it can be insulting to the reader. The 2nd through 4th paragraphs each take one of your supporting ideas from the introduction and elaborate them. Finally the conclusion sums up the information and highlights what is important. If it is a longer essay, this is important because what is said last is more likely to be remembered.

A tip is to write the body before the intro and conclusion, so you know what to introduce and conclude. Hope this helps a little.

start of with reasearching your topic when writing an essay. make yourself the expert at the topic once you find out all your information Analyze it define your claims and reasons why you think how you do about the topic. Write a thesis, this does help you entire essay will revolve around it. Make an outline (rough draft) have some one else read it and let them give you feed back..it does help! Good luck!

Well, for simple grammar mistakes and stuff, I’d suggest buying the book, “A Grammar Book For You and I… oops, Me!” by C. Edward Good. It is filled with the most common mistakes and it is written for basically anyone. Here is some reviews for it at amazon.com if you are interested:

As far as topics for essays go… I don’t know what to tell you, but for me, ideas came easier when I grew confident in my writing.

talk to your teacher about how hard youve been trying to improve. Maybe that will give him or her the extra push to bump up your grade or give you an oppourtunity for extra credit!
