Proper English?
Which is proper English:
1. “The values from Tables 1 and 2…”
2. “The values from tables 1 and 2…”
And any references you have that prove one is correct over the other would be helpful.
This is for a formal report. So, I DEFINITELY NEED THIS TO BE CORRECT.
Please just provide me with a direct SIMPLE ANSWER rather than which you would use when and why. Just let me know which one is correct!!! That’s all I need!
Thanks!

Presumably the tables are on reports where the titles are Table 1 and Table 2. Therefore they are proper and your first example is correct.

Are the tables you are referring to itemized separately in your report? If so, then you are referencing something that has a title. You take it from there. I will not do people’s homework.

#2 is correct. See source link:
the word “tables” is not a noun, nor any of the other words listed that can be capitalized.

I’m pretty sure that it’s number 2. I’m also pretty sure it’s not number 1 becuase Table wouldn’t be capitalized unless the table had a specific name. It has to be a noun to be capitalized or a persons name. Hope this helped!

if each table is titled “table” (Table 1 and Table 2) then the T is capitalized if they are not titled “table” then they’re not capitalized

Vampire is right. use “tables” because it is not a proper name, place or a title.

On this occasions Tables is worded as a noun, and should therefore start with a capital “T”.

It depends on if the word “tables” is important. If u r talking about regular non-important tables then it is lowercase.
