pre-calc inverse question?

ok. I know how to find the inverse but I got stuck on this one problem. I know it’s easy, but my mind went blank on how to isolate the (y).

the problem is f(x)=x^2 – 4x – 5 (x<=2) so I got it down to x+5= y^2 -4y and now I don't know how to get rid of the y^2 I tried factoring it out and it still didn't help. So if you know exactly what I should do thanx a lot!!!!

on the right side, factor out a y. so you’d have x+5=(y)(y-4) hope it helps and it’s good to see that you’re only asking for help, not the answers!

in case you turn x with y interior the functionality f(x) to discover the inverse functionality that is going to look like this: x = (3-y)/4 then you might desire to isolate for y: 4x = 3-y 4x -3 = -y 3 – 4x = y = g(x)
