Only two weeks! Lol! I used to do competitive debating and regularly we were only given half an hour to prepare.
No, a second language shouldn’t be compulsory because it may be irrelevant for some future career choices of the students.

Why in the heck would you want to add extra work for yourself. If I have a need, desire, etc. to learn a second or fifth language I can pursue that. If I have a desire to learn something else well, I just might sign up for that. That’s the beauty of freedom – we get to make our own choices.
