Please help me solve equations problems!?

First Problem: Note: 16/5 is not a fraction, it’s 4k – 16 divided by 5 subtract 8 equals negative 24.

-24= 4k – 16 / 5 – 8

And this one: Note: -5/12, 7/18, and -1/3 are fractions.

-5/12(2y-4) = 7/18(3y-12)-1/3

And this one: Yes, 5/6 and 2/3 are fractions

5/6(12-6x)=2/3(6x+9)

-24=(4k-16)/(5-8)

-24=4k-16/(-3)

-24 x -3 = 4k-16

72=4k-16

88 = 4k

k=22

hope this helps

For better clarity, you could write the first equation as:

-24 = (4k-16) / 5 – 8

The second equation is better written as:

(-5/12)(2y-4) = (7/18)(3y-12) – 1/3

When solving equations with fractions (or denominators), it’s easier to “clear or eliminate fractions.” This is done by multiplying both sides of the equation (or simply multiplying each and every term in the equation) with the LCD. The LCD is the least common multiple of all the denominators. It is the lowest number that all the denominators can divide. For example, the denominators in the second equation are 12, 18, and 3. All of them can divide 36 (this is usually stated as: 36 is divisible by 12, 18 and 3). They can all divide 72 and 108 as well, but 36 is the least value that they can all divide.

If we multiply the second equation with 36, we will get:

-15(2y-4) = 14(3y-12) – 12

This equation looks a lot less complicated, right? Continuing:

-30y + 60 = 42y – 168 – 12

60 + 168 + 12 = 42y + 30y

240 = 72y

240/72 = y

120/36 = y

20/6 = y

10/3 = y

Therefore, the answer is “y equal to ten thirds”.

I believe you can do the same to the other two equations.

Hope this helps.
