please help…i will give whoever has the best answer 15 points.THANKS?
a) filtrate and residue
b) solvent and solute
f) atom and ion
g) distillation and evaporation
h) qualitative and quantitative
Favorite Answer
b) The solvent is the liquid (usually) that dissolves the solute. The solute is the substance that is dissolved. Sometimes it’s hard or impossible to know which is which.
f) An atom is the smallest unit of an element. The combined negative charge of its electron cloud balances out the positive charge of its nucleus. An ion is an atom (or group of atoms) that has gained or lost one or more electrons to become charged, usually to complete a nearly full outer electron shell or to empty a nearly empty one.
g) distillation is the purification of a liquid through evaporation and condensation. Evaporation is the change from a liquid to a gas.
h) qualitative refers to a property that can be evaluated but not measured or counted. A quantitative property can be measured or counted. In analytical chemistry, qualitative analysis determines what elements or compounds are present in an unknown substance. Quantitative analysis specifies in what proportions those components are present.
1.Atom is neutral on the other hand Ion is charged particle
2.Distillation is process of purifying liquids through boiling, so that the steam or gaseous vapors condense to a pure liquid. and Evaporation is a method, usually used for Distillation and in this process a liquid changes into a gas.
3.observations that do not involve measurements and numbers (“My brother is shorter than my sister,” is a qualitative observation.) Whereas Quantitative needs measurments.
