Where 4 to the power of 2 (or 4 squared) would be 4 x 4, and 4 to the power of 3 would be 4 x 4 x 4, 4 to the power of 1 would be simply 4.
So 2 to the power of 1 would just be 2.

You can work it out backwards, as well. 5 to the power of 4 is 5x5x5x5, and 3 to the power of 3 is 3x3x3.
Therefore, 2 to the power of 1 is just 2.
Any number raised to the power of 1 is that number. If you use a calculator to check your work, you can raise a number to the power of 1, typing the number then using the carrot key which looks like ^ followed by 1.
if it’s 2 to the power of 2, 2 is multiplied by itself twice, therefore the answer would be 4.
x being the number your using, in this case 2
