What are the Horizontal and vertical components of a 10 unit vector that is oriented 37 degrees above the horizontal?

if you sketch this situation, it will make a lot more sense.

once you draw your vector, you will see that you have a right triangle with a hypoteneuse of 10

a vertical component of 10 sin 37

a horizontal component of 10 cos 37

you can look up the sin and cos, or use a calculator

You should use the sin, cos, tangnet rules you learnt:

cos angle = adject/ hypo

sin angle = opposite/hypo

tan angle = opposite/adjecent

The unit vector means length 1.

if

sin(angle) = o/h

then

o = sin(angle) x h
