Physics hw question about instantaneous velocity. Help!?

I put the question on photobucket.

I don’t want just the answer. I need to know how to actually answer it, step by step, because it’s going to be on a test tomorrow.

INSTANTANEOUS velocity is the SLOPE of the POSITION-TIME graph.

what is the SLOPE of x-t graph at t = 0.5 sec

Note:

AVERAGE velocity between two points (t1,x1) and (t2,x2)

is the change in position divided by the change in time:

Vave = (x2-x1)/(t2-t1)

as t2-t1 goes to zero (t2 and t1 get closer to each other), the average velocity gets closer in value to the instantaneous velocity (t1 is very very close to t2).
