percentage of increase in population: 1950 pop 2,556,000,000; 2000 pop: 6,279,000,000?

Please…I just need help setting this up. How do I go about finding the percent increase in population from 1950 to 2000?

For percent increase or decrease, subtract the 2 numbers. Then write it as a ratio of the difference of the 2 numbers to the ORIGINAL number.

3,723,000,000

2,556,000,000

You notice that the numerator is larger than the denominator that’s because the increase was greater than 100%. You can make the numbers smaller by canceling out the zeros and then divide to get the percent.

lets see…… subtract 2,556 from 6,279, and lets say the answer is D. then the equation would be: D/2556=X/100 . then you use cross products!!!! =D (um, if thats confusing, ask an adult!!!! hehe)
