How to describe a pattern in mathematics way?

In a simple case, a pattern is something that repeats, in space or time or some abstract dimension.

So you define a single element, and demand of it that when you travel some distance from the origin, the element repeats itself.

Of course, patterns can be vastly more complex than this. They need not repeat in the same way or by the same amount each time, and quite abstract patterns can be created by the combination of simpler patterns. It’s a wonderful field.
