Okay … so what is your question? Where have you looked? There are volumes, web pages, and movies about this man. Please use ADD DETAILS to provide specifically what you need help with. Right now it just looks like you want someone else to do the research and/or write your speech for you. I trust it was not your intent to get someone else to write this for you and then pass it off as though it was your own work. So please – add some details about what you’ve done so far, where you’ve searched, what you’ve read and what others can do to help you (short of doing the work for you). Have you talked with your local librarian?

Umm…One of the most notarious misconception is that he was gay. Actually, up till today, no one knows exactly HOW to describe Wilde. Many say he was bisexual since he did fall in love young and married, and was sentenced to jail because someone (can’t remember who) accused him on practicing/being a sodomite. Yet, Wilde has become a “gay icon”as many people would like to view it. But critics say it doesn’t fit because of the trials and blah…blah.

Basically his impact was on the inner lives of society, questioning morals, temptations, ect. How he was able to put and describe and give life to his characters to match the society he was living in, inside the content of literary fiction. Of course, I think that what I wrote is much more coherent if you actully read his screenplays, and actually see the setttings from different points of view.

I honestly don’t know much about Oscar Wilde. I bought a book with his works inside ONLY because he was gay, like me. I read it, and was like………..BORING. Seriously, I like poetry, older works, etc, but this was boring.

One more comment, if I may, without seeming offensive….

Sweety, I hope you can write/type better than what you did above, or else you can have the best paper in the class, but if you write in run on sentences and don’t use proper English, capitalization, spacing, etc., you’re going to get a low grade anyway.

If you have time locate Babara Tuchman’s “The Proud Tower”. It has a chapter on Oscar Wildes sodomy trial. This trial, and WW1 ended the Victorian Era. Great topic. Go with it!

His impact was HUGE because he spoke of the ‘thing that dares not say its name”. The mere fact that homosexuality is recognized in art and literature today can be traced largely to Oscar Wilde. He was a trail blazer, even though, as you already know, it cost him time in jail.
