The last colony to be settled was The Providence of Georgia. There are two main reasons why. First, most of the settles who came from England embarked either on the north of the colonies or the Chesapeake region, so it took a while to go more south. Second, Georgia was right next to Florida, which at that time, was colonized by the Spanish. So, settling in Georgia can be dangerous since the Spaniards might attack, that’s why Georgia was the “buffer” colony, to protect the rest of the colonies from attack.
