Nuclear Power: Factors That Make it difficult to produce nuclear power? Help please..for a school project!?
Favorite Answer
Factor that make it difficult:
You need facilities that are built to contain the radiation, meaning thick thick walls. The area won’t be usable for many years after the power plant has been shut down.
People are opposed to having nuclear power plants constructed in their “backyards.” No one wants it near their homes.
Factors that make it easy:
It is a self-sustaining reaction, because once one atom splits, that causes more atoms to split, and the cycle continues. (The problem is stopping the reaction once it has started.)
It doesn’t cause pollution like coal-burning or oil-burning plants would, so some people prefer nuclear power over fossil fuels.
