Need help with dimensions of a corral thats 130m, Algebra! Mom needs help!?

ok, up checking 9th grade algebra again and I have gone back and looked at examples and nowhere does it talk about SHORT sides of a corral. (like at 39 I want to build one anyhow! haha) but anyways, this is the question: Kirsten built a rectangular corral with a fence on 3 sides. A side of the barn served as a short side of the corral. She used 130m of fencing. The length of the corral was 20m longer than the width. Find the dimensions of the corral. Choices for the width are 25, 30, 35. I SAW JUST CALL A CONTRACTOR AND LET HIM BUILD THE DAMN THING, THEN I COULD BE WATCHING THE NEWS AND NOT DOING THIS! SO THANKS KIRSTEN!! =D

Can anyone help, or send me in the right direction here?

The dimensions are the lengths of the sides. Say that L is the length of the long side, then the short side has length L-20.

The fence is on two of the long sides and one of the short sides (the barn takes care of the other short side).

So 2L + (L-20) = 130. Solve to get 3L = 150, or L = 50. So the length of the rectangle is 50 and the width is 30.

You can cancel the contractor, this is cheaper!

you have three sides to build, one short and two long

the long sides are the same length because the finished’

shape is a rectangle.

the long sides are 20 meters longer than the short side

all the sides total 130meters

call the short side x

call the long sides x + 20

The fence will cover the three sides of the corral.

The formula for the total length of the three sides of

your corral is:

(x + 20) + (x + 20) + x = 130 meters

This can be simplified like this:

x + x + x + 20 + 20 = 130 meters

3x + 40 = 130 meters

3x = 90 meters

x = 30 meters

So the short side of the corral (we called it x ) is 30 meters

The side of the barn is also 30 meters

and that makes the long sides each 50 meters ( x + 20)

So you have a 50 meter by 30 meter corral

Go in to your math teacher and get some good help, each part of this class will build on the last part so make sure you get this part down. It’ll come in handy when you go to build that corral! Good luck.

1) the dimensions are the length(long side) and width(short side.) To go around the corral you would need two long sides and two short sides.

2) But the barn covers one of the short sides, so you only need to fence 3 sides.

3) So, you have 2 lengths and 1 width that equal 130 meters.

4. l+l+w=130 but l=w+20. SO

5. (w+20)+(w+20)+(w)=130

6. 3w+40=130

3w=130-40

3w=90

w=30 The width is 30 meters, The Length is 20m longer, so the length is 50 meters.

7. the dimensions are 30m by 50m. (30+50+50=130m)

the width is 30 because one of the sides is the barn so 30 + 20 = 50 because the length is 20 m longer. 50 +50+30 =130 but next time have someone do it for you next time.

the answer is 30m. the barn is used as one side of the coral, so the two long sides are x+20 and the short side is x. you do (x+20)+(x+20)+(x)=120. just work through the problem and the answer is 30m. hope this helps

I no longer often ever positioned on any or have any yet to each his very own, i like to be elementary because of the fact it feels greater mushy to me. If somebody likes something else it somewhat is his/her selection. once I see such alterations in hair, clothing, make-up and rings presently it makes me think of everybody is each so often announcing “i do no longer care what all and sundry else thinks because of the fact which you may desire to no longer choose me by ability of how i glance” or in different words “you do no longer be conscious of me” and each so often it rather is puzzling to look previous all that stuff that rather shouldn’t count and get to renowned those human beings. i think of each so often they have faith that those that may not be in a position to look previous appearances are human beings they do no longer decide to renowned them besides, in spite of the actuality that each so often i think of which may be form of a opposite discrimination on their section.
