Need help finding the measures of two angles?

The measures of two angles are in the ratio 5:3. The measure of the larger angle is 30 greater than half the difference of the angles. Find the measure of each angle.

How do I find the measures of the angles. Please explain don’t just give answers

Let the angles be 5x and 3x (that makes the ratio 5:3).

Then:

5x = 30 + (5x – 3x) / 2

5x = 30 + (5 – 3)x / 2

5x = 30 + 2x / 2

5x = 30 + x

Subtracting x from each side:

4x = 30

Dividing by 4:

x = 30 / 4 = 7.5.

The angles are therefore:

5*7.5 = 37.5

and

3*7.5 = 22.5.
