The battle between the Gods and men was never in doubt. The Gods, led by Atlas the Titan, were galvanized into action by the quixotic gesture of the human army who took no precautions against the Gods’ powers, refusing to be saturnine in fact appearing rather jovial. Their leader was known to be rather an epicure, preferring fine wine and food to battle. This was too much for Nemesis the Goddess of retribution and she urged Titan to attack and win at any cost even if later his success would be demonstrated as a Pyrrhic victory in the many folk dances that ensued to describe the battle. The solecism of the humans’ attitude in thinking of the absurdity of their potential victory was equivalent to the Sisyphean task of rolling a boulder up a hill in a never ending task. naturally the Gods were victorious. What else could they be? After all, they were Gods.
