Well I write poems about the greek god’s in modern times.

Here’s one that compares Zeus to a president:

The statue of Liberty is the Roman Goddes Libertas.

None of your example are actual allusions. They are tributes, there is nothing clandestine about them. Saturn is a Roman God, his greek equivalent is Chronos. Nike is greek.

Mentioning Olympus as a “Great White House Grand” is a forward allusion to the Presidency.

But here are some more examples of Myths in pop culture:

The Apollo Missions (some back in the day wanted it to be called Artemis, since it wasn’t a trip to the sun)

The Band Styx, after the river.

Cereal after Ceres.

The names of the planets, except Pluto which was named after Mickey’s dog…seriously.

Opium comes from Orpheus

The Titanic after the Titans

Atlas after Atlas, and Atlantic.

Atlanta, GA. after the sprinter Atlanta.

The Olympics

Amazon books, named after the Amazon warriors, which is a GLBT book store in Minneapolis. The on-line site I believe is named after the jungle, which in turn is named after the warriors.

You can check out the entries on wikipedia for more.

I also believe the car is named for the planet, as it is part of their symbol.

Be careful with ME’s LINK, I checked it out, and the information is somewhat deceptive. Just like Pluto, not all things are named directly after the myth. Atlanta was actually named after the shortening of “Atlantica-Pacifica”, so even I was wrong there@!

Tennessee Titans (NFL): titans (Greek mythology)

The Olympics: Mt. Olympus (home of the Greek gods)

Mobil Oil – uses Pegasus (winged horse in Greek mythology) in its logo

FTD (Florists’ Transworld Delivery): uses Roman god Mercury in its logo

You would need to have read Harry Potter or you could try typing what are the mythological illusions in Harry Potter into the search. I did and many sites came up.
