No. It’s not true. Tutors are for lazy people. Everybody knows that.

I’m not sure but I don’t think she can get fired, by law, for saying this.

However, discuss this with your school principle or board. Perhaps she has done things like this in the past and has a history that can be the basis of her removal as school staff. Also, talk to your parents. Their support is critical when you’re making a stand. But always remember you can do anything alone.

Saying things like this can isolate students who actually uses students and encourages other to look down upon those who are trying. It can also spark an attitude that can end up as violence towards victims who uses tutoring or defends it.

If the school principle or board doesn’t seem to listen to you, attract the attention of media. Their words are powerful and can help you in many ways. They helped me get in the school that was discriminating me as a deaf student.

But the critical thing to remember is to be positive and proactive. Do not engage in immature behavior that can negatively influence your credentials or reputation.

You can do it!

No. The defintion of stupid is “Marked by a lack of intelligence or care”. Since the form of tutoring is enlightening others of knowledge because they don’t currenly possess that knowledge, they are considered uninformed or “stupid”. Stupid just means you don’t know the answer yet..if she called u retarded maybe, but stupid just means that u haven’t learned it yet.

Or maybe she’s just pissed off because people need explanations and she’s tired. Teaching the same things over and over again is difficult and sometimes teachers forget that there are new students who don’t know. Besides isn’t she allowed to have her own views? Is she not to have thoughts of her own and express them? Sure, they may hurt some people, but her opinions express a different idea. If u’re offended by it, then just argue it back with ur views.

I don’t know if she can be fired. If she’s tenured, probably not. But she could definitely be reprimanded. She’s discouraging the educational process. If you don’t understand a concept, seeking out additional help is not only the studious thing to do but it shows initiative. Any teacher saying something like that should not be teaching any longer. I would tell someone with authority that your teacher is saying this. I think that’s totally wrong.

Probably not fired, but I would certainly report it. She might discourage someone from getting the help they need and deserve. Tutoring is not for stupid people. Stupid people wouldn’t even make it that far. Keep in mind what it means to be stupid – incapable of learning is the definition of stupid.

Absolutely! That is nothing for a teacher to day! I am amazed that those words even came out of the mouth of a teacher. My grandmother is a teacher and she said that she has seen many teachers fired for a lot less! I would definately tell your parents and let your parents talk with the principal. Even if the teacher doesn’t lose her job at least she will get repremanded!

I would certainly report that to the School District. I know folks who are achieving their Phd’s in Physics this year and they have tutors.

I say your teach was way out of line, inconsiderate, mean-spirited, and in the wrong for that comment.

If my daughter told me that her teacher said that I’d be marching myself down to the school as a parent to report it myself!

I’m sorry you had to hear that. Tutoring is a tool to compliment learning. Shame on your teacher! Big Time!

probably not fired but in serious trouble. you need to make it anonymous tho if you go to the office, maybe write a note or something and slip it in the principals office -or- have your mom stop by.

reason why im saying either your parent/or/ dropping off a note is because my friend told on a bus driver once and instead of making it anonymous the principal called the bus driver up to her office and pretty much told my friend it was her fault for what the bus driver said & did [[even though it wasnt i was on the bus along with many other kids that would of said otherwise]] but none the less the principal took up with the bus driver & it made the bus ride very hard for my friend, my bus driver would go as to not even go up her road to pick her up and if she was standing out there, she’d pass her up -or- when she did ride the bus she would get in trouble for things that other kids would be doing & get away with.

so becareful!

THAT was totally uncalled for!!!! I don’t know that she can get fired but you ALL should turn her in….what if there’s someone in class who is taking that as truth and could end up being someone who could succeed well — really well — BUT THIS TEACHER said that and this one person needed help in ONE class (none of us are/were perfect at everything) — we all think differently. I’m a mom — I would have called the school and raised some hell on that one!! Just hearing the question made me MAD……….

Possibly. A lot of that depends on local laws, and school board bylaws (it can be extremely difficult for some teachers to get fired). It could be hard to prove without witnesses, which may be needed if any action is taken. Anyway, it all depends on State, local, and school laws.

omg precalc teachers make me mad. my precalc teacher made me cry in class for yelling at me because i didn’t know the answer, but when i asked for help earlier, he said “you’ll figure it out eventually” and then he screamed at me cause i couldn’t sdfhjaskjdhflkjashfdlkjahsdfk ok i just needed to let that out haha

she couldn’t get fired, but i would talk to other teachers about it and ask what they think about it. i dont know about your school, but at mine, there are teachers that really care about the students and all that stuff and we can talk to them about stuff. but since they’re on the fauclty too, i think it would be best to talk to them before you talk to someone like the principle or something. and i was tutored, and i’m not stupid. hope this helps!
