My 4th grade son has this question on his science homework. Can anyone in Tennessee help us.?
1. Vine-
2. Cactus-
3. Water lily-
He is in the Obion County School System in Tennessee.
Favorite Answer
Cactus stores a lot of water so they can live in dry places
water lily has adapted to little sunlight they can live in water
They grow up toward the sky, and wrap around trees or poles or whatever. They have adapated that way because they need sun, and have to find a way to get high(above other plants that may have stronger stems or thicker trunks). Their adaptation is to use whatever is handy to grow tall.
Cactus- The prickles on the cactus protect it and its good water stores from animals who would destroy (eat) it for its water content in the desert. Since cacti are succulents, they are good at soaking up rain when it falls and storing it in the dry times. If they didn’t have spikes, every thirsty animal would simply eat them for the water, so the adaptation allows it to survive.
Can’t think of one for water lilies offhand, but you get the point.
1. vine-leaves for photosynthesis.
2. cactus-waxy coating for water retention.
3. water lily-i have no damn clue but i’m saying roots that will soak up the right amount of water.
