I always find it easier to first make all my fractions ‘improper’ (meaning no 1 2/5 but 7/5)

so you have -2/3 x 7/5 x 12/7

[now, you have the option of cross simplifying, so you have smaller numbers to work with at the end. if you do this you would simplify the 7 numerator and 7 denominator to 1 leaving you with 1/5 and 12/1. you would also simplify the denominator and 12 numerator getting -2/1 and 4/1. this gives you -2/1 x 1/5 x 4/1]

then it is just a matter of multiplying all the numerators and all the denominators (you can combine it all into one fraction), so you have

(-2x7x12)/(3x5x7) [OR (-2x1x4)/(1x5x1)]

now you just do the math…this gives you

-168/105 [OR -8/5]

and finally you simplify leaving you with -1 3/5

First, convert all Mixed numbers to improper fractions.

(-2) x 7 x -12 = The 7’s reduce and the 3 and 12 reduce

3 5 7

(-2) x 1/5 x -4 = 8/5 = 1 3/5

(-2/3) x (1 2/5) x (-1 5/7)= (-2/3) x (7/5) x (-12/7)

= 1 3/5
