Median is the exact middle of the population, which is 7 (there are 12 units to each side of the middle number 7.)
The range of this distribution is 5 to 9 (highest and lowest unit.)
Range = Its simple as abcd. Its simply the difference of the smallest from the largest. When u talk about range, u talk abt the distance of a particular thing. For example, if u wana find the range of 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10. You simply subract the smallest (3) from the biggest (10) and get 7. So 7 is ur range in this case. Its that easy.
Rule: Before you attempt these types of questions like finding mean, median, mode etc…ALWAYS write the numbers from smallest to largest (ascending order). It helps significantly.

When you get a half number that simply means you need to find the average of the two whole numbers on either side, so in this case it would be the 12th value and the 13th value.
In this set, the 12th value would be 7 and the 13th value would also be 7 so what is the average of 7 and 7? If you guessed 7 then you are right. If for some reason you aren’t sure what is 7+7 divided by 2?
Range= highest value – lowest value
The highest value is 9 and the lowest if 5 so what is the range??
As to the range… not sure. Isn’t this definition in the index of your textbook??
